FARMS FOR THE PEOPLE

LOCAL & SUSTAINABLE FOOD DATABASE

Grocery shelves are empty, but farmers have plenty of food in their fields. As the pandemic shines light on a fragile globalized food system, we’re reminded more than ever of our resilient local farming economies and small supply chains. And the reality is: local food touches many less hands than food at the supermarket.

That’s why we’ve built a nationwide database of local farms that are offering contactless pickup, home delivery, and/or nationwide shipment throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The farms on this list reflect what we believe to be the very best practices for growing nutrient dense food and responsibly stewarding the land. We encourage you to look at their websites & social channels to get to know them better & learn more about their farming practices!

food pantries & restaurant bodegas:

Many local restaurants, shuttered by COVID-19, have converted to bodegas and food pantries to offer groceries to those in the community. Many have also become CSA hubs for local farms. Check out this nationwide list by food writer Ashlie Stevens to find one in your area.
